Trees for the Earth!

Many people don't pay much attention to Earth Day. Sure, you can write a post on your facebook or upload a picture of the Earth on Instagram but that's not helping the planet at all. More than pictures or words, Mother Nature requires care and love from its Children. That's where we all come together. There are many small things you can do to help the environment.

Here's a list to help you get started:
1. Turn off water when not in use- doing so can save you five gallons of water a day.

2. Use refillable water bottles- In the US alone, 1.5 millions barrels of oil are used every year to make disposable plastic bottles.

3.Choose cloth napkins- Paper napkins contribute to the annual destruction of approx. 34 million trees.

4. Drive smarter, slow down- Driving 60 miles per hour instead of 70 mph on the highway will save you up to 4 miles per gallon.

5. Plant something- Trees not only cool things down (did you know they can help decrease a city's temperature by up to 10 degrees?) but they also clean the air and give off more oxygen, among a lot of other benefits.

6. Buy reusable bags- It's been estimated that Americans alone use 100 billion plastic bags a year, and just the production alone for those requires about 12 million barrels of oil. Not only that, but they also take a lot of space in landfills and cause major problems for marine life.

7. Unsubscribe to catalogs- Over 100 million trees are cut down each year to produce junk mail including catalogs. Not to mention, they end up in the trash anyway.

8.Pay bills online- It would save 23 pounds of wood and avoid 29 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions per household, every year.

9.Compost- Instead of throwing your food scraps in the trash, compost them in a bin or a pile. After tending the pile for a few weeks, you'll have rich soil you can spread on your grass or use to make a delicious vegetable garden. The land around you will be healthier and more vibrant for your efforts.

10. Use less electricity- Coal and natural gas are the most common sources of energy that gets turned into electricity. The burning of these substances is a major factor in world air pollution. Reducing your reliance on electricity is a great way to play a part in saving the planet.

When it comes to the Earth, there's no time to waste, so take bold initiatives that will encourage people to take action in their local communities and cities to carry messages and movement forward. Create a page on fb, or an IG account that somehow helps spread the word of taking action and make this planet a better one. Vonlunteer at a local organization that focuses on helping the Earth and Its all about taking small steps so as to make this planet a better place for our communities and generations to come.
Do some research! There are a lot of organizations that work hard to make Earth a better home for all of us. Read about what they are doing to make the future of our planet safer and more eco-friendly!

Since this year's theme for Earth Day is Trees for the Earth let’s start with planting some in your backyard or place of business and build from there.
Together, we can do this!
