Be Your Own Boss

Sometimes all you need is a little push. A little burst of inspiration. No matter what the motivation is to be your own boss, you can start today.

Being an entrepreneur is not for everyone. There's long hours involved and a lot of trying hard and failing and trying again.  If you take these steps, you'll be well on your way to becoming your own boss. Remember you are not alone. If you want to "be your own boss" but you still feel stuck, reach out and connect with other entrepreneurs in a variety of ways.

1. Recruiting. Building a team is key to success. Remember that you are competing with big companies and their large budgets, as well as other talented startups. Choose wisely.

2.Risks. Taking risks comes with wanting to be your own boss. It's difficult to plan for the future when you don't know if what you're providing will still be running and getting attention in a year. Your goal is to stay focused and prepare for any obstacles coming your way. Develop thick skin and put on those blinders.

3.Learning.  New experiences and skills are the rewarding parts of being an entrepreneur. Spend a couple of hours reading (the internet provides info available for you 24/7, on any topic!) and the rest of the day doing.

4. Audience. Know your target. Find out if people will buy your products or services. Who are your consumers? How is your service/product going to help them? Why do they need it? Do your research. Ask your costumers directly and listen.

5. Spread the Word. Even though social networks are essential today (you must use them!), don't underestimate the power of other methods to get the word out: e.g., word-of-mouth marketing, website and internet marketing tools, public relations, blog posts, columns and articles, speeches, e-mail, newsletters, and the old-fashioned but still essential telephone.
